How to maximise your Google Adsense earnings
We bloggers always search for ways to increase our income from Ad programs and Affiliate programs. Affiliate publishers try to get more hits on their referral links and the Ad publishers try to get more clicks and impressions on their ads.
Genuine Trick: Get your AdSense Account approved very easily…
This article is for those who depend on Ad programs for money…
Trust me, I’ve used the below techniques and personally experimented on them. They have really helped me to increase my revenue.
So here are the ways to increase your revenue from AdSense:
1. Choose the best place for Ads Placement.
Ads above the fold works well; but too many ads effects blog ranking. Generally a Leader board at the top works very well as it directly gets the visitor’s attention. You can also put ads on the middle of your posts. It’s not so good for user experience but you can show if you write really long posts. Again, ads in the end also work well and people also like to click on them as they have read your post now.
Sidebar is the last thing a visitor checks; but you can still show some text ads or an image rich ad on your sidebar.
2. Choose the best performing Ad size.
If before selecting an ad size we experiment a little about which ad size works well then it would be great. Remember that every blog has different recommendation for ad sizes. So, you can’t just select the ad sizes that other blogs are using.
You can use Google Analytics to see which ad size works well. You just need to integrate AdSense with your Analytics Account in that case.
Once you get to know which ad size performs well, you can just stop experimenting and make it permanent.
3. Select the attractive ad types.
There are many ad types, like: text, image rich, video and mobile. Every ad type has different CPC (Cost per Click). You can use image rich ads to attract more readers to click on it; but while doing that you should not forget the text ads as they are more descriptive. They show links along with a description which many times make users to click on them. You should also use a custom Google search on your blog as it shows ads to your users when they searches something.
If you’ve a mobile site then do use the mobile ads as they work well on mobile sites.
4. Block the low paying advertiser’s sites.
If you stop showing low paying ads then you can earn more. Because then only high paying ads will appear.
You can block the low paying advertiser’s sites easily by going to your AdSense account. Follow these steps:
- Login to your AdSense account.
- Click on Allow & Block Ads.
- Now click General categories in the left pane.
- Then block the low paying sites.
5. Don’t show a lot of ads.
Maximum of how many ads are allowed?
- 3 image rich ads,
- 3 text links and
- 2 custom search boxes
That means 8 type of ads are allowed per page. So if you add all of them and people don’t click, then your CTR will decrease which will result in less CPC i.e. less income. So show only those ads that perform well.

6. Use Google Custom Search Widget.
Using custom search you can show ads to your readers who search for posts in your blog. When a user searches for a post on SEO then custom search shows him not only the search results but also some text ads related to the keyword SEO. So this increases chances of getting more clicks and hence more income.
7. Start Vlogging with YouTube.
You can monetize your YouTube videos and add those videos to your posts to earn more money.
To activate AdSense for video:
- Just go to your AdSense Account.
- Then, My Ads tab.
- Now on the left select Ads for video.
- At last, submit your application.
You also require monetizing your videos. So just go to your YouTube account and monetize your videos.
8. Show ads only to search engine visitors.
Most of the repeated visitors come to get the content only. They don’t give a damn to the ads. So if you have a high percentage of new visitors then you can just do it. You can show ads only to new visitors coming from the search engines. This will help in two ways: More Clicks & High CTR.
Here is a WordPress plugin “Who sees Ads” that can help you in doing this job.
9. Get a fast & responsive template design.
Blogs having a good design is always fast and responsive. Ads displayed on that type of blogs simply perform well. So you can just search the template store to get your new responsive template.
10. Drive some more visitors to your blog.
It’s true! More Traffic = More Clicks = More Money. So we should always try to get more traffic to our blog. To get more traffic you can optimize your blog for search engines.
You can do more keyword research to get less competitive keywords. You can do that by using Google Adwords Tool.
Again you can optimize your keywords to get higher ranking by using programs like SEOPressor.
11. Keep Experimenting.
Yes, you need to keep experimenting with your AdSense ads. Keep the type of ad in a place and see the stats for some days. Then change the place. Again try changing the type of ad or the size. The things are different on different blogs and depends more on blog’s layout. So you always need to keep experimenting untill you get the right place, right size and right type.
12. Check CPC of keywords using Google Adwords tool.
You can easily check the cost per click of a keyword so that the page gets high paying ads. Just open the tool & enter your keyword to check CPC of keywords. Link to the tool is already shared in point 9.
13. Target U.S Traffic to Get Higher CPC.
Do you know? Google AdSense pays more if a U.S visitor clicks on your ads. So if you can target the U.S audience and drive them to your blog then that’s better. You can use your webmasters account to tell Google that you want U.S traffic.
14. Get a High PR blog for high paying Ads.
If you have a blog of PR 4 or above then you can enjoy more income from AdSense as Google shows high paying Ads to sites with high PR. To get PR of 4 or more you can start guest posting in high PR sites.
15. Turn off Ads when User is logged in.
You can use plugins like ‘Quick AdSense’ to show ads. There you will get the option to hide ads when you are logged in. Top two benefits of doing that:
- High CTR as ads will be shown less number of times.
- No more accidental clicks on your own ads.
These points will surely help you in increasing your blog revenue. Most of the techniques are highly recommended by the professional bloggers who earn thousands of dollars per month.
So you can just follow them and try to increase your AdSense revenue. But, you can’t rely only on them without content as content is what that brings the visitors. AdSense is all about visitors. You can earn great money only if you have great traffic. Blogs with less traffic never earn more than a few cents. So, to get more revenue work on driving more traffic, and to drive more traffic concentrate more on your blog content. That’s it.
